Shotokan Traditional Karate-do Australia (STKA) is a friendly, family orientated karate club that practices and teaches traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate on the Gold Coast, South East Queensland.

Both men and women are welcome to join and train with us to improve their physical fitness or simply to gain in personal confidence. Junior students can start to train with us from around 12 years of age. Our classes are general classes, where adults and juniors train at the same time. Shotokan karate is characterized by its linear nature and dynamic speed and power and is the most widely practiced karate style of the four traditional karate styles in the world today.

STKA is an independent karate association; we are affiliated with the AFTK and other independent karate styles. At STKA you will learn Traditional Karate-do along with practical and effective self defense. Higher graded students have the option to study and learn a variety of weapons. We are not a sports orientated karate club and although we do particapate, and have had noted success in competitions; we do not focus on competition or Sports Karate.

Our instructors are highly qualified and STKA has earned a reputation for teaching to a very high standard. STKA Instructors are experienced sports coaches, they have had Senior First Aid training and have been issued with Qld Blue Cards after successfully undergoing the Working with Children Check.
